How to Choose a Mesh Size

Let us introduce wire mesh size, 2 mesh indicates that in one inch there are 2 openings. You could easily pass a pencil through the openings.

16 mesh indicates that in one inch there are 16 openings. This mesh is used in a window screens.

60 mesh indicates that in one inch there are 60 openings and it is used in kitchen faucets.

An 80 mesh has an opening which will barely pass a human hair. An opinion of how thick the wire can be estimated using a piece of paper about 0.076mm thick. So, a wire 0.46mm thick is about 6 pieces of paper.

The total thickness of the woven mesh will be twice a single wire .. So it would have an total thickness about 12 sheets of paper.
